Digitek
Generic Name: Digoxin US Brand Name: Digitek Other Brand/Trade Names: Digoxin is sold under the following trade names: Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps, Cardoxin, Digitek, Canaxicaps UsesDigoxin is widely used in the treatment of various heart conditions, namely atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and sometimes heart failure that cannot be controlled by other medications. Active Ingredients: Digoxin Inactive Ingredients: Corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, microcrystalline cellulose, pre-gelatinized starch, lactose monohydrate and anhydrous lactose, silicon dioxide. Dosage and FormsDigoxin is available in different forms, such as tablets, capsules, liquid or injection. Take Digoxin tablets by mouth with or without food, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor. Certain foods and medications decrease the absorption of Digoxin. Therefore, take Digoxin at least 2 hours before or after eating food products high in fiber (such as bran). Dosage is based on your medical condition, age, body weight, and response to therapy. Symptoms of a Digoxin overdose include nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhea, confusion, seizures, hallucinations, light "halos" around objects, green or yellow vision, fatigue, irregular heartbeats, and abnormally fast or slow heartbeats. If overdose is suspected seek emergency medical attention. Contraindications and PrecautionsTell your doctor if you have a history of: liver or kidney disease, lung disease, thyroid problems, rheumatic fever. Difficulty breathing and swelling in your lower legs and ankles may be signs that your dose is too low. Do not change your dose without consulting your doctor. Before having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor that you take Digoxin. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Digoxin is excreted into breast milk. Though, to date, no problems have been noted in nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Side EffectsTell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: confusion, dizziness, weakness, mental/mood changes (e.g., anxiety, depression, hallucinations), fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, vision changes (blurred vision or yellow/green halos around objects), enlarged/tender breasts. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing InteractionsBefore taking Digoxin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other forms of Digoxin. (e.g., digitoxin); or if you have any other allergies. |
