Uses

Cefadroxil is used in the treatment of nose, throat, urinary tract, and skin infections that are caused by specific bacteria, including staph and strep.

Active Ingredients: Cefadroxil and Lactobacillus
Inactive Ingredients: Tablets contain the following inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, simethicone emulsion, and titanium dioxide.
Capsules contain the following inactive ingredients: D&C Red No. 28, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Red No. 40, gelatin, magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide.

Dosage and Forms

Cefadroxil is available in form of tablets, oral suspencion or capsules.
Take each dose of Cefadroxil as scheduled by your doctor, with a full glass of water or with food to minimize dizziness.
The Cefadroxil overdose may become apparent by the following symptoms: seizures, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. If the overdose took place, seek for emergency medical attention.

Contraindications and Precautions

The presence of the following medical problems may affect the use of Cefadroxil: kidney disease, a stomach or intestinal disorder such as colitis. Besides, it should be used with caution in pregant of breast-feeding women.

Side Effects

Common Cefadroxil side effects include the following: diarrhea, inflammation of the bowel (colitis), nausea, redness and swelling of skin, skin rash and itching, vaginal inflammation, vomiting, fever, chills, sore throat, flu symptoms, seizure, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, vaginal itching or discharge.

Interactions

If Cefadroxil is combined with one of the following medicines, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered: Ceclor, Omnicef, Spectracef, Suprax, Cefzil, Fortaz, Ceftin, Keflex, and others.
