Neurontin
Generic Name: Gabapentin US Brand Name: Neurontin UsesGabapentin is an anticonvulsant used to treat seizures associated with epilepsy. It may also be used to treat pain due to abnormal nerve stimulation (neuropathic pain) and nerve pain associated with herpes zoster infection. Active Ingredients: gabapentin Inactive Ingredients: poloxamer 407, copolyvidonum, cornstarch, magnesium stearate, hydroxypropyl cellulose, talc, candelilla wax and purified water. Dosage and FormsGabapentin comes in forms of capsules, pills and oral solution (liquid). We carry Gabapentin in tablets. The daily dosage will be different for different patients. Each dose of Gabapentin should be taken with a full glass of water. It doesn’t matter if you take Gabapentin with or without food. Do not stop taking this medication without talking to your doctor. Do not take this medication more often or increase your dose without consulting your doctor. In case of overdose seek emergency medical treatment. Symptoms of a Gabapentin overdose include double vision, drowsiness, slurred speech, diarrhea, poor coordination, and difficulty breathing. Contraindications and PrecautionsBefore using Gabapentin, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, if you and/or your child are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement, if you and/or your child are taking morphine, if you and/or your child have kidney problems, if you and/or your child have any other medical condition. Side EffectsUse caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Gabapentin may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. You may also have an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives). In this case you should contact your doctor as soon as possible. InteractionsTalk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products. Gabapentin does not interact with other commonly used antiseizure medications. Antacids will decrease the amount of Gabapentin that is absorbed in the stomach. Do not take Gabapentin for at least 2 hours after a dose of antacid. Gabapentin may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, and muscle relaxants. |
