Generic Name: Metoclopramide US Brand Name: Inderal Other Brand/Trade Names: Metoclopramide is marketed under many brand names around the world, including Maxolon, Degan, Maxeran, Primperan, and Pylomid UsesMetoclopramide is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux and for the relief of symptoms associated with acute and recurrent diabetic gastric stasis. Active Ingredients: metoclopramide Inactive Ingredients: magnesium stearate, mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid. Dosage and FormsMetoclopramide is available as injections and tablets for oral administration. Metoclopramide sold in our on-line pharmacy comes in form of tablets. Administer Metoclopramide by mouth 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime, usually 4 times daily or exactly as directed by your doctor. Dosage is based on your age, kidney and liver function, medical condition, and response to treatment. Do not take Metoclopramide more often or in larger doses than prescribed by your doctor. Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, confusion, tremors or uncontrolled muscle movements in face or neck, seizure (convulsions). Contraindications and PrecautionsMetoclopramide is contraindicated in phaeochromocytoma. It should be used with caution in Parkinson's disease since, as a dopamine antagonist, it may worsen symptoms. Long-term use should be avoided in patients with clinical depression as it may worsen mental state. Side EffectsBelow are listed several side effects that need medical attention immediately if occur: hallucinations, anxiety, agitation, jittery feeling, trouble staying still, fever, stiff muscles, confusion, sweating, fast or uneven heartbeats, rapid breathing, swelling, fluid retention, seizure (convulsions), depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself, tremors, or restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck, jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes), mask-like appearance of the face. Other side effects may also occur. Talk to your doctor if some of adverse reactions are long lasting. You may need a dosage adjustment. InteractionsIf Metoclopramide is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Metoclopramide with the following: Acetaminophen, Alcoholic beverages, Antispasmodic drugs, Cimetidine, Cyclosporine, Digoxin, Insulin, MAO inhibitor antidepressants, Levodopa, Narcotic painkillers, Sleeping pills, Tetracycline, Tranquilizers If you take insulin for diabetes, your insulin dosage or dosing schedule may have to be adjusted while you are taking Metoclopramide. |
