Food in the stomach can reduce the absorption of Roxithromycin. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Taking your tablet at the same time each day will have the best effect on your infection. It will also help you to remember when to take it.
Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you or someone else has taken an overdose of Roxithromycin contact your doctor or go to the accident and emergency department of your local hospital at once.

Contraindications and Precautions

Roxithromycin is contraindicated to patients who are taking medicines for migraine headache called ergot alkaloids. Use cautiously with hepatic dysfunction, lactation (secreted and may be concentrated in breast milk; may modify bowel flora of nursing infant and interfere with fever workups).

Side Effects

Roxithromycin can be well tolerated, but also can cause severe toxicity which is usually related to the dose taken. Contact your doctor immediately if you face any of the following gastrointestinal side effects: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting. Stop taking Roxithromycin and inform your doctor if you have any of the following side effects: headaches, dizziness, vertigo, and also the rarely seen rashes, abnormal liver function values and alteration in senses of smell and taste.
