Uses

Bupropion is used to treat major depressive disorder, seasonal affective disorder and to help people stop smoking, get out of nicotine dependence.

Active Ingredients: Bupropion or Bupropion hydrochloride
Inactive Ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, ethylcellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, methacrylic acid copolymer, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, talc, titanium dioxide, hydrochloric acid and triethyl citrate. The pills are printed with edible black ink.

Dosage and Forms

Bupropion can be found in form of pills, extended-release or sustained-release tablets.
Take Bupropion pills by mouth with full glass of water or with food as schedulled by your doctor. Do not crush, crew or chew pills, swalow them the whole.
Symptoms of Bupropion overdose may include the following: cardiac arrest, hallucinations, loss of consciousness, seizures, sinus tachycardia. If the overdose is suspected contact your doctor or emergency room immediately.

Contraindications and Precautions

Bupropion should be avoided by patients who have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia, heart disease or high blood pressure, head injury, brain or spinal cord tumor, kidney or liver disease, bipolar disorder (manic depression), diabetes. Besides, Bupropion is contraindicated to anyone younger then 18 years old, pregnant or breast-feeding women.

Side Effects

Bupropion may cause the following side effects: headache or migraine, nausea, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth, confusion, dizziness, tremors (shaking), appetite changes, weight loss or gain, mild itching or skin rash, increased sweating, loss of interest in sex.

Interactions

Bupropion should be avoided to be taken along with the following: alcohol, amantadine, levodopa, antidepressants, antipsychotics, systemic steroids, theophylline, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, desipramine, flecainide, fluoxetine, haloperidol, imipramine, metoprolol, nortriptyline, paroxetine, propafenone, risperidone, sertraline, thioridazine, efavirenz, fluvoxamine, nelfinavir, paroxetine, ritonavir, sertraline, selegiline, warfarin, nicotine patch.
