Uses

Cetirizine is used to treat the sneezing; itchy, runny nose; and itchy, red, watery eyes caused by seasonal allergies, in treatment of chronic itchy skin and hives.

Active Ingredients: cetirizine hydrochloride
Inactive Ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose.

Dosage and Forms

Cetirizine is available in form of pills, chewable pills or syrup.
Take Cetirizine pills by mouth with a glass of water or with food.
Cetirizine overdose symptoms may evince in feeling restless or nervous, and then feeling drowsy. Seek emergency medical attention if Cetirizine overdose is suspected.

Contraindications and Precautions

Cetirizine is contraindicated to persons who have kidney or liver problems, or are receiving dialysis; preganat or breast-feeding women.

Side Effects

Cetirizine may cause the following side effects: fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat; weakness, tremors (uncontrolled shaking), or sleep problems (insomnia); problems with vision; headache.

Interactions

Cetirizine should not be taken along with Theophylline because it may increase the risk of Cetirizine’s side effects. Do not drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers), it may add to their effects.
